There’s actually a reason why the protagonist, Punpun, is drawn like a “doodle.”

According to Asano-sensei, by making the character have few expressions, it makes it easier for us readers to project ourselves onto Punpun.

That’s why, without realizing it, we end up entering that world through Punpun’s eyes.

Also, many of the locations in the story are said to be modeled after the Setagaya area in Tokyo (such as Chitose-Karasuyama).
